Power Outages Close Montgomery Co. Schools Thursday

Wednesday, June 4, 2008; 11:15 PM

Montgomery County public schools will be closed tomorrow because of major power outages in school buildings caused by today's violent storms, officials with the school system announced this evening.

All community activities in school buildings are also canceled, but day care in school buildings with power will be open at the discretion of the provider, officials said.

Administrative offices will be open.

Graduation ceremonies for Blake, Walt Whitman, and Wheaton high schools at DAR Constitution Hall will take place tomorrow. A decision had not been made as of late last night whether ceremonies will continue at the Stephen Knolls school and Regional Institute for Children & Adolescents, officials said.
